ENG 332: Describe an Averb

“Sluggishly”

It wasn’t like he couldn’t see in the dark or that he was just too high to figure out the science of turning the doorknob but that he was tired. Tired of spending half a whole paycheck on piff, tired of not getting any phone calls other than his boss (whom was under the impression that he gay and would shamelessly flirt with him) but mainly tired of coming home to an empty apartment.

So he stood there with his face pressed up against the door to apartment 32B of 44th and Grand. His arms hung by his sides like fallen soldiers from the tower they met their end. He had one eye open and not really looking at anything or anyone. Not that there would be as it was nearly dawn and most of his neighbors were in stage four sleep. He snorted, rather loud and obnoxious,a bubble of mirthless humor to confirm his current existence in the hallway.

When his hands finally took matters, the door was open and his feet led him inside, tripping over some over the threshold because that same morning he decided to strip on his way out, leaving the sweater right on the floor....

(work in progress)
